Youth centre Mikado from Czech Republic is looking for 2 volunteers for a long term activities (12month)
Start of activities is 1 September 2014
1) For Youth club
One volunteer's task will be to prepare activities arranged by Mikado for children and youths. Their main activity will be working in our small club for 25 person. The club functions as a place for young people to meet. The club offers table games, competitions, languague games, club programs, discussions and meetings. One important task for the volunteer will be to assist in the preparation of some activities and workshops.
Other activities
- The volunteers will assist the educational staff and the leaders of groups. Leisure activities run throughout the entire year. These activities can be weekend trips and activities, competitions, exhibitions and seasonal camps. The volunteers will help with the preparation of programmes and courses for these activities. For example on Saint Nicolas Day (the traditional ‘Day of Children’ in Czech culture), we usually prepare themed games, activities and competitions throughout the day.
- It is essential that you will be flexible with your time, for example you may be asked to work more hours during the summer camps that we organise. A typical week will most likely not follow a standard schedule. Our work can be irregular and therefore we would welcome a helpful person who will not mind pre-arranged changes.
- The actual work of the volunteers will be based on working with children and young people. We need a creative and communicative volunteer.
2) For the Maternity Centre
The other volunteer's task will be to prepare activities arranged by our organisation for mothers and small children. Their main activity will be working in the Maternity Centre (MC). The MC is a place for mothers and young children (0-3years old) to meet and socialise. The club offers games, musical activities, prepares exercise routines, provides play areas and organises art activities for the children. One important task for the volunteer will be to assist in the preparation of some activities and workshops. The MC runs in the morning and therefore all the major activities take place before midday. Again, we feel a creative person with an interest in working with children will find this role rewarding. The volunteer will prepare activities for visitors to the centre, involving general activities for the children as well as communicating with the adults. Other activities- Work for youth centre with bigger children and youth. For example activities on the summer camps and workshops.
